- סִיגII m. (v. סְגֵי I; cmp. סוּגְיָינָא; for the apocopate form cmp. רֵעַ a. רֵעֶה) growth, sproutings, esp. luxuriant growth (in good or bad sense). Tosef.Ukts.I, 2 (Tbul Yom III) הס׳ של אשכלות the foliage covering the clusters of grapes, של רצפות the cobweb-like covering of fruits; Ukts. I, 2.Pl. סִיגִּים, סִגִּים. Deut. R. s. 3 (ref. to Deut. 7:13) מה פרי אדמתך ס׳וכ׳ as the fruit of thy ground will be of luxuriant growth, so will be the fruit of thy womb (strong people). Num. R. s. 16; Tanḥ.
